15 Goal's a season striker
|
Back in the day they used to buy someone as he "could guarantee you 15 goal a season".
Nowadays it seems like you are doing really well if you can get someone that scores 10. seeing as there are more goals per game than before, I am guessing that btw I haven't looked it up, how comes getting a decent goal scorer is like finding hens teeth?
Although we may not like him here, shows how good lampard was from midfield for those years.
If Kane, Mane, Salah are £100mill plus players then surely a decent striker could be found around the 40 to 50 mark. Not saying that's our budget, but surely these players are out there....
What would a 15 goals per season striker cost?

I think I'm right in saying that Geoff Hurst once had 40 in one season?

Depends how good your scouting is and whether your ready to take a risk on someone not yet established.
Someone like Ivan Toney for instance was signed for 10m and was someone we were looking at. Whether Eduoard gets 10-15 goals remains to be seen, but only cost 12m.
For someone already proven in the PL for scoring 15 goals a season then substantially more, but obviously price is dictated by other variables like contract length, desperation of club to sell, player trying to force a move etc.

I reckon Eduoard is going to be a superb player.
Re: 15 goals a season, today’s players seem to get injured a lot more, muscle injuries etc. Possibly to do with the game being built around pace and running, rather than the ball doing the work ?

Irish Hammer 5:02 Tue Oct 19 Would definitely like Eduoard in the squad. We missed a good player there, one of the many names that was mentioned, but came to nothing.

Antonio has 5 in eight games. 30 more games to go. I fancy he gets to 15.
I think goals are spread more across a team these days and the basic 442 where the team is set up to feed 2 strikers is rare.
Lots of strikers have good seasons and then dwindle. The key is consistency season after season.
Strikers are overvalued though. That’s how clubs end up spending £15m on Jordan Hugill.

Depends if you're looking for a young up and coming striker with plenty to prove but the potential to build further or a mature striker where you know what you're getting.
If you're looking for the latter than Danny Ings at 25 million is a decent reference point.

People get far too excited about strikers that have a quick start in the Prem. Toney & Eduoard have a long way to goal before 'proving' we should have signed them.
I kept getting weirdly dug out on here for saying (once) I didn't think Adam Armstrong would suit Moyes style, & it resurfaced again after he scored on his debut. He hasn't scored since.
I'm inclined to think, seeing as he's waited this long, that Moyes is going to get it right when we finally sign a striker, and he'll be better than all these punts being mentioned.

Last season. there were 7 players with 15 Premier League goals or more. 20 years ago (2000/01 season), there were 6 players.
So not much change at all, in the spread of goals.

That Daka fella just scored 4 for Leicester in the Europa game. Him and Ineanacho look a decent pairing. Need someone like him, fast , strong and good finishing. Wonder if Sully's 5 million budget paid in £100000 quid installments over 100 years will secure that ? ;-)

Eduoard (who we were linked to), Daka (who we were linked to), Haller (who we had and gave away) would all be better than absolutely nothing, which is what we got.
Fuck it, even HUGILL would.

There will be around half a dozen 15 EPL goal strikers this season and the number that can do this for consecutive seasons, who are English, is recently limited to Kane and Vardy.
Maybe better to hanker after a striker regularly getting double figures year by year.
